There are two new features in the Cinematic Effects Collection that provide ways to create composites of images and videos. These the Edge Blend and Edge Blur effects. The Edge Blend effects simply blends the edges of an image or a video into the background. This creates the effect that the two are merged together. The Edge Blur blurs the edge of the image or video, then blends it into the background. This creates a soft edge appearance for a more artistic look.
The following images show a background template, then an image within the template but without any blending.

The images below show how the slides look when Edge Blend is applied and then when Edge Blur is applied.

There is a subtle difference between the two.
You can sepcify size/amount of blending and blurring.
As with all effects, these can also be applied to video at 60fps depending on the quality of your video card.
