The other day at NNU
A few days ago, I was asked to stop by and give a brief training session to the guys responsible for running SongShow Plus for the chapel services at Northwest Nazarene University. I spent just around an hour with them. I mostly answered questions.
They were all quite excited about how SSP was going to help them out. They expressed concerned about some others who insist on using PowerPoint to build the chapel presentations. I showed them how using a Workstation installation of SSP and the Package-to-Go utility, that it was just as easy to use SSP for this task. They were also quite excited to see how easy it was to download song lyrics using the SongSelect Lyrics Service Import utility. Another need they has was to shrink the output so that it was more like a 16:7 aspect ratio. That was easily accomplished.
I think I showed them, perhaps, 1% of what the application will do, and yet that was enough to get them excited about using SSP on a regular basis. (One of the guys lamented that his church was not aware of this product at the time they selected another product.) They're looking forward to V7. I enjoy training sessions like these!

Re: The other day at NNU
I just spent a week as the "media coordinator" for our national annual conference (about 600-700 in attendance).
almost every day, the worship leader for that night would come to me with a powerpoint of that night's songs. And I would simply select the songs in SSP, select a background similiar to what they wanted.
Most were quite impressed.
The piano player and song leader in the morning were real please that they could just give me the title of the couple of hymns they wanted to start the morning session with and I could just throw them up.
On the first day, they had to throw in an additional song to kill some time and the songleader was somewhat surprised that I had the song up on the screen before he finished singing the first line. He thought we'd have to sing it from memory. (That wouldn't be a problem. Most Seventh Day Baptist love to sing, especially some of the old classics.)
A long week, but a good time.

Re: The other day at NNU
I just had somebody come to our church to watch how easy it is to put together a program in Songshow Plus. He was quite impressed! His Senior Pastor wants to try Mediashout so I was more than happy to show him what SSP can do that Mediashout cannot do. Also, last weekend we held a youth bash at our church for the Nazarene churches. There was well over 600 youth there. The worship leader flew in from Seattle for this. He handed me his powerpoint, plain lyrics on green backgrounds. He told me another church had showed him what they could do with mediashout. I told him, "I'm happy to show you what Songshow Plus can do". I really jazzed up his songs and I just know he was totally impressed. It seems like this is one way we will be getting the word out, but showing people how exciting Songshow Plus really is!
