Feature Preview: Video Fade In/Out
SongShow Plus has provided a way to specify a start and stop point for a video clip for some time now. And up until now, such a clip begins instantly at the the start point, then cuts off instantly at the end point. Users have requested that these start and stop points fade in and out. This feature will be part of the next edition of SongShow Plus.
Now, when specifying a start and stop point, you have two additional options, Fade In
and Fade Out
. You can choose either or both of these options. When you do, a one-second fade will be placed at start and/or stop point of the video clip.
The fade affects both video and audio! Take an example of the Fade Out option. When this is selected, the video fades to black starting one second before the end point of the clip. More accurately, the video actually fades to alpha zero, making it transparent. If you have a black background, then the video fades to black, but if have a background other than black, that background becomes visible. The audio channel also fades out at the same time.
The Fade In and Fade Out options are most useful when specifing a start and stop point for a video clip, but they can also be used on complete video clips using the regualar begin and length of the video file. This is handy if the video you want to use doesn't fade in or out but you want that behavior.
It's not a major thing, but it's one little thing that can help make your presentations look more professional!
Edit: This feature also works for audio files as well.
