Hi
I have a copy of our songbook in ASCII text format and at present I add the songs to SSP by cutting and pasting verse by verse.  Is there an easier way of importing the text formatted songs?

Not an automated way if that is what you are looking for....

If you are actually copy/pasting into the edit window for each step a slightly faster method would be to use the clipboard importer since that will at least allow you to select and insert all the parts rather than having to edit each individual section.

Here is some documentation on the SongSelect usr format.

I don't knwo how dated that information is, but it could be that you could edit the text file and put in these tags and then import them into SSP with the SongSelect import.

I'd make a copy, so you don't mess up your original file and save the new one as a .usr

I dont' know if this would be easier or not. But it's an option.

A lot of us have encountered this situation over the years and have found that it is easier to just add
the needed songs week by week by downloading from CCLI Song Select, when available, or hand copying
when not. Of course, many of the common hymns are included in the SSP database. Although this seems
like a lot of work, it isn't much each week and it gets easier as time goes by. Good luck, been there, done that ;-)

Agreed. Sometimes rebuilding from scratch let's you start clean. And doing it week by week shouldn't take a lot of time, if you have a SongSelect license from CCLI and the songs you want are in SongSelect.

Hi All,
Thanks for your replies - I found the clipboard importer the best way for me to import.

FWIW, SSP 8.0 has a text file import utility that doesn't require the clipboard.

I hope the clipboard import will still be available. I converted our entire library, from a competing product we used for a few year, using the clipboard import. Once I got the hang of it, it was very: fast, flexible, easy and complete.

Additional clarification:

Yes, the Clipboard option is still available but...

The new song Text Importer (and other new document based song importers) all work in a similar fashion to the clipboard in that you are presented with the text and you get to select which parts to add where in the song file.  The advantage is you are saved steps needed to get the text to the system clipboard because the docs are opened in the native application.

stroke default?? by akins in Version 8.5

I'm tired of having the stroke show up where and how I don't want it.
When I go to apply or change the stroke it gives the option of using the
default or making a change. I want to set the default to something I might
actually use, but I can't find anything about the stroke default in the Help,
User guide, Knowledge base, etc. Can someone tell me how I can set the
default -- or, at least, turn it off?

RE: export slide show as video? by George in Version 8.5

Dick.
This is not a tool that is available in SSB however there are several 3rd party screen capture tools that you can use (some free) that will also capture audio.  I think you would just need to make sure your intended screen res was set before starting but it should be fairly straight forward.

RE: Bug in wait time?? by akins in Version 8.5

Thanks, Joel

It certainly seems like that is the case. It saddens me to see, what once was
by far the best church display software, now not keeping up with user
desires/needs. Nothing in the tech world is forever!

Stay safe.

RE: Problem with Entrance Effect? by iamgap in Version 8.5

If I understand what you're describing, this has been an issue since version 8.0. If you turn off (or don't use) animate first step {or something like that}, this issue goes away. Unfortunately, you have to animate first step if you want any slide to appear blank before showing the first item. There is a work-around for this, but it doesn't look as good if the animations don't match the transition.

RE: Abbreviation of Bible version? by George in Version 8.5

Hi Joel.

That will work when projecting the scriptures but what Dick was looking for was a setting for the display in the program panel.  Unfortunately there is no setting for this.

RE: file searching by osborn4 in Version 8.5

Agreed. I would love to have an alpha sort order available. I don't care if a video is an AVI, WMV or MP4. I want to find the video.

AAH! Multi-line display works even though it takes up a lot of vertical space.

Windows 10 Mobile Control App by George in Mobile Apps

There is a SongShow Mobile Control app available that was originally developed with Windows Phone and the like in mind but we know what happened there.

This app is still available and works great as a troubleshooting tool or even for control of another machine.  This works on Windows 10 only.  It was tested on Windows 10 Home and Pro on a desktop and should work on any Windows 10 laptop or Surface device, though not sure about ARM devices.

This can be found by searching for SongShow Mobile Control in the Microsoft Store in Windows 10 and installing from there.
