When trying to match text to audio, e.g., using a slide show to show
song lyrics as the song is played, it would be so very helpful if the slides
and text could be timed from the beginning. Presently, each text box
has to be designated by wait time, animation time, and time to end.
So there is no easy way to tell when the text will show short of adding
up of the individual times. It would be nice if there was an option to
display text times from the beginning rather than just individually. Perhaps
this can be done and I have missed it. Otherwise, I would submit it as
a wish if there was a wish list!

Dick,

Currently there is no "time line view" that you described.

I once built a SSB to Wherever We Go for VBS, with a hopping Kangaroo at the initial notes of the song. And I had to do like you, time each slide for as long as the words needed to be on the screen. I actually thought that was easier that trying to put words on a timeline. To each his own I guess.

Although, doing it that way did require playing the song WAY TOO MANY times. But it is a great song, so I enjoyed it.

Gary,
I find it easy to get the times for song words (for example) from the
beginning of the song, but that is very difficult to translate to SSB
applying the wait time, animation time, time to finish. I do it, but
not happily! I would be a simple matter for the programmer to
include a timeline as an option, but doubt it will happen -- too many
"high tech" irons in the fire!

Gary, it looks like you, me, and Joel are about the last of the "old-timers."

RE: PowerPoint by George in Version 8.5

Gary,

Regarding your question about the post 1809 WMV video issues - possibly.

That issue was only encountered when multiple high res (1920) videos were used so if this is created in the importer at less than 1920 then probably not.

RE: Mobile Control not connecting to SSP program by George in Version 8.5

David,

What Version of SSP are you using?

You said they all failed to connect around the same time, implying that they all did connect as expected at some earlier time - Is that correct?

This error is a known issue with SSP 9.0 and is addressed in that forum section.

Please confirm which version you are using.  If it is 8.5 then please contact support.  If it is 9.0 then apply the correction noted in that forum section.

RE: Timer with looping slideshow by akins in Version 8.5

I couldn't tell exactly what was causing it. The only conditions for which I
have tried using the timer with Improv was a continuously looping
set of announcements (~10) which had slides with a motion background and
some animated text. The count-down was to the next 1/2 hour.

RE: Control SSP with Abelton Live through MIDI by George in Version 8.4

Hey Gary.

I believe there was some discussion of this (or something like it related to MIDI control) a while back but to date there are no MIDI control functions, in or out, in SongShow Plus.

RE: Slides fill half screen question by George in Version 8.5

Hi Hilda,

There are actually a number of ways to do this.

Several would involve changing the size of the display area is SSP but others would allow full screen with live video background.  You may even want fully supported text over live video via the DeckLink solution.  It really all depends on what the final result is that you want.

If you really want to keep the same setup it seems it may be about educating your operators, but if you are really looking for a different setup then I suggest you (or your video people) contact the support team and let them know what they want as a result and they can help to set it up.

RE: Preview display by StanCason in Version 8.5

Yep, it works fine if you use a Title slide as your first slide.
The problem is if you use the build option "First Lyrics Slide Only"

I just checked it out in the 11/27 build and the problem is still there.

RE: Abbreviation of Bible version? by akins in Version 8.5

I may be missing something, but this looks like I would have to type in the entire scripture reference just to change the final "New International Version 2011" to "NIV." If I am correct in this, it is not a very good solution. Maybe in all the fancy changes/additions in version 9, a simple addition like this could be 'snuck' in.
