I am wondering if anyone has purchased a computer built by GoFish Media. We are moving to our new facility and are currently working on upgrading our computer system and SongShow plus (we are currently using v5). When we called with questions about the new version, we were quoted a price on a laptop built by GoFish Media specifically for SongShow plus. I am looking for feedback on the quality of the computers and if anyone has purchased one if they like it or not. Thanks

Don't know if you got your laptop yet, but we are really not pleased with our purchase from them.
We bought a laptop from GoFish Media for our brandnew church. I was convinced that we could eliminate any compatibility problems of using Songshow7 if we used something they built and I was told that they would take care of any hardware problems through a loaner program and we would never have a weekend without a computer. Well, unfortunately the headphone jack shorted on the 43rd day after we got the laptop and GoFish politely told me I misunderstood them about the loaner program. They will send a replacement within the first 30 days of any problems, but they do not know where I got the impression about getting a loaner to be sure we were never left without a computer. (Maybe it's possible that I made up the whole conversation in my head?) We've also had problems with the tech support supplied by them. Not only does it sometimes take forever to get a callback or answer the phone, the answers are never absolute and we don't ever get our problems solved. I work as computer tech support person and so does the main songshow operator who is involved with directly using the laptop. When we call for help, we both cannot believe what answers we get from GoFish media. Sometimes we are told to remove programs that are not even on the computer as a solution. The computer also seems to freeze A LOT, and we are ALWAYS worried that things will not work smoothly during service. (It has crashed more than a few times during a service) The staff at GoFish are always polite (when you can reach them) and seem as though they want to help, but we still have yet to have a problem solved. Maybe my expectations are too high because I am in the same industry, but their solution to our broken headphone jack is going to leave us without a computer for 2 OR MORE weeks! As a growing church we have no funds and being without a system in which we spent $2,000 on for more than 2 weeks is really a sad testament to what we thought the type of service a Christian software/hardware company should've provided. If you buy a computer from them, make sure you have a second backup computer around in case the one you buy breaks after the 30th day.

Mate your going them for a "Broken Headphone Jack" on a laptop???
I would call that wear and tear.

I guess it would be considered "typical" wear and tear if it were a few years old or even perhaps a few months, but this was a few weeks and the headphone jack failing is obviously from a poor manufacturing job. The sound output from that jack is vital for our services since the audio for any videos we've put in need it. I've worked with many many computers, laptops, and various audio equipment enough to know that this was a manufacturing issue and even GoFishMedia said they would have to send it back to Intel to have the motherboard "Replaced" because it was for them (the manufacturer) of that part to take care of. I think if a key on the keyboard broke after pressing it 10 times, that can't be "honestly" considered wear and tear.

This is a very late update. VERY soon after this discussion forum was posted, GoFish contacted us saying they were trying to get in touch with us to help us resolve the issue. They sent us a Desktop machine with all the bells and whistles while we sent the laptop back to them for repairs. We had the desktop unit for about 3 or 4 weeks while the laptop was sent back to GoFish who then sent the motherboard to Intel for replacement. I gotta admit, the desktop is an awesome machine. Anyone who is considering getting a GoFish desktop machine, you won't be disappointed and you definitely will never want to run any other machine when it comes to smooth running. It was a beauty, and ran like a champ. If we weren't such a new church and we weren't mobile, we'd get one. The laptop sent back to us runs better than ever. Even problems we originally had with the bad laptop, with regards to freezing and other issues became minimal with this replacement. Maybe we got an upgraded motherboard instead of just an exact replacement. I build computers all the time, sometimes there are just lemons out there, just like cars. We had never used such a powerful program like songshow prior, so we didn't know any better and thought our original problems with the first laptop were just software limitations. I personally do not work on the songshow program but I our media gal always keeps me up to date on how her machine is running and any problems that occur. She's been a happy camper ever since the replacement was done over 6 months ago and loves her laptop now. She misses the temporary loaner desktop machine (which was very kind of GoFish to help us with when we were only 5 weeks old as a church).
My final words to anyone buying one of their machines...It's worth it. The power needed to run Songshow could cause a lot of issues if you buy a laptop not made by them that could be harder to resolve. Songshow is a great program, it absolutely amazes me what our media gal can do with it. Our pastor loves media tools in his sermons and she even makes commercials of her own that get embedded in the program. She's just a volunteer with an awesome gift, and the GoFish laptop and Songshow program really let her express her gift.
