I have always wished for an animation that would bring one letter in at a time, almost like typing. I thought this topic was in here, but my searching skills cannot find it. Anyway, I have built slides to do this and wonder if anyone else has done something like this. I also wander if there is enough interest in this to add it to the wishlist.

Doesn't the SSPSS download when you click on it?

Hum!! I used to have to get on this site twice a day just to keep up with
all the news, discussions, tricks, questions, etc. Now once a week is more than
sufficient. The last wish granted was 18 months ago. I hope all of this is not
an indication of the health of the company - but I suspect that it is. Sad;
this has been (is) one of the great programs over the years with zealous
user interest and dedicated tech support. Maybe we need a resurrection!

For internet explorer you should be able to right-click it and choose save target as. I am not sure what other browser options would be, but something that indicates downloading a file. It is small enough to download, but I am not sure put an email address in a public forum is a good idea. I wish this forum had an option to attach files.

Thanks, Gary, I got it. I admire your programming and this is a nice effect.
However, I think that it is only slightly different (from viewer view point )
from the "wipe" to the right at about 1.5 sec. Of course, the wipe would have to
be adjusted for line length to achieve the same "typing" speed for different lines,
whereas yours is automatic. At a very slow "typing" speed yours would certainly
be better than the wipe which would uncover each letter slowly.

What do you think the chances are for this to be added to entrance animations?

When first posted, I looked at this and wondered how it worked, but I didn't look more closely. Thanks, Dick, for keeping this thread alive, so I revisited it and actually figured it out.
Gary, I noticed that you had bullets tuned on, with an invisible bullet. Is there a reason for this? I turned the bullets off, and it moved the text slightly left, but the animation seemed to work the same.

I guess I use bullets out of habit. Bullets would be necessary if each line was displayed on the same slide, one line at a time.

I will have to try the wipe animation to see how that works. I saw an animation once that actually made it look like you were inside of a typewriter. That would be a cool animation.

I tried the wipe, and it is OK, but it doesn't quite have the pop of each letter appearing one at a time.

I have no idea if this will make it as an animation, but it sure would be nice and a whole lot less work than building one phrase at a time.

Mobile Control update with 5/22 SSP update? by George in Version 8.4

Joel Osborn asked:

"Would the android app have automatically updated?"

Joel - I am not sure I follow.  Are you asking if the Mobile Control App would update due to this SSP update?

There were no changes to the app.

And Dick, that's exactly what I generally do. Usually use HandBrake to rip the video to the hard drive. Just want to know the options.

I think I got that suggestion from you ;-)

RE: The SSPlash Humor Thread by EmmerStone in The Wave Pool

The doctor gave me a Rorschach test and asked, "what do you see?"

I answered, "I see an old, sad, overworked man, tired of doing the same thing over and over, only visited when others need something from him, blamed for things outside his control, and never being appreciated enough."

"I appreciate your honesty", said the doctor, "but I meant, what do you see on the picture?"

Pan/zoom goofiness by akins in Version 8.4

I may be one of the only people that uses the pan/zoom effect very much,
but I find it useful in many situations. Several versions ago (maybe vs. 7) I complained about
the screwy interface for this effect and the techs set about and changed it so
the effect, its self, is much less useful. When mentioned this, it was admitted
that it needed work, but that they would probably allow the older version of
the effect to be used also. That never happened. The old version had a poor interface,
but was logical and very versatile. The new one has a nice interface, but is illogical
and quite limited in functionality. I've given up on this ever being fixed, so here I
give some hints on its use.

The percent zoom makes no sense whatsoever and must have been programmed
by someone who never used zoom in photography or otherwise. Of course, in
photography 100% zoom (or 1x magnification) means the original size, that is, no
zoom. Rarely people will use it to mean 2x magnification. Here's a table for the SSB
pan/zoom effect (where the first number is SSB % and the second is photographic
% zoom or 100 times the magnification:

    10=166; 20=250; 30=330; 50=500; 70=670; 100=1000. So, for example, 100% is
    equal to 10x magnification.

If you use this effect, you will probably want to preview often in order to get it correct.
I found that periodically the preview if incorrect. So if it looks strange in the preview,
    try it again.

RE: clear screen still broken by akins in Version 8.4

Thanks for the response, Gary. I have been wondering if there was anyone
still left (besides Joel ) on these forums. This "bug" is particularly aggravating
in that it once worked perfectly, and then someone broke it. Now no one knows
how (or cares) to fix it. We have another group using our church and they are using
ProPresenter. I probably will get a "taste" of that as they become more active.

RE: iOS 11 Update by tnanock in Mobile Apps

    Jarad,

I totally agree. We can no longer add songs on the fly from the platform which is the main reason we used the app and one of the main reasons I purchased SSP in the first place. Thank goodness I still have an iPad with the older IOS with the original Presenter app.

Show off your pets, guys! by EmmerStone in The Wave Pool

Hey, fellas! I've created this thread for us to share a few light-hearted conversations about our household pets, something to brighten up the day when the going gets rough or you just needed something to pick you up from a gloomy day. Let me start this up with my pet story. I have a Siamese cat named Felina. When she’s not scratching up the furniture, eating her cat food, letting off on her cat litter box or watching the television with me, she would usually cuddle and snuggle, play with the kids, and follow my wife around the house. Having a pet would help cope with work-related stress. It also helps you lighten up the mood, cheer everyone up at home. How about you guys? Who are your loyal friends (whether four-legged or not)? Feel free to share.
