Good Morning

I have been using songshow for more years than I can remember and I am finally trying something new but feeling a bit lost trying to figure it out.

I have the latest version of songshow and we want to use a countdown timer in the preservice announcement slides.  I need to make this as easy as possible for the volunteers.

I realize I need to use Overlay Improv but I am not sure how to add it to the slides show.  I have tried adding it but the slides don't continue and it stays on the first slide and counts down.

IS there a way to save a countdown in a slideshow and when the volunteer starts it it will automatically start counting down?

Any tips or advice is very welcome!

Hi and thanks for using SongShow Plus.

You are correct that you could use Overlay Improv to get a timer however this still requires a manual step to apply it.

You are also correct that when added to a single slide, a slideshow will not advance automatically until the timer is complete.

There are a couple of techniques you can use that involve animations that should work for you.

Please contact the support team and they can see what might work best for you.

I have a countdown slide in my announcements. I actually have one for top of the hour, bottom of the hour and the next quarter hour. I did create these in an earlier version, so I cannot say for sure that it can be created in 8.5. When I imported the files from an "experienced" computer to our newer computer it imported as a video. The slide counts down to the hour (or 1/2, 1/4 hour), and then stays at zero (0:00) as long as the slideshow is not stopped and restarted when the service doesn't start on time.

If I remember to do so, I will check this weekend to see if one can be created in 8.5. I think they are actually created as a video.

Yes, you can still create a timer in 8.5.
Go to the Video tab under Media Files
Click the Create or Acquire From... icon
Select Timer Creator near the bottom of the list.

You can then add that timer as a video in your slide show.

RE: Preview display by akins in Version 8.5

I haven't noticed any problem in showing any song or blank slide on the stage monitor segmented 2/3 and 1/3. Blanks show blank in both
and song text or titles will show in both and they are correct as to projected or previewed. All my songs begin with a blank followed by
a title slide and all songs end with a blank. I'm using 8.5.

Thanks, Dick! I did read your thread and tried your fixes, but with no luck. I do appreciate the help, though.

RE: Importing PPT in slide show by George in Version 8.5

Hi Kim.

This is not an issue that we are familiar with but you can try the Preview build of 9 to see if that resolves the issues.  If not,  please contact support to report the detailed behavior in 8.5.

Thanks

RE: Shadow Disappears by gwhaverdink in Version 8.5

We have had this happen periodically on different computers.
I have found that switching to a different SSP Program and back again will cause the shadows to return.
Closing and re-opening SSP also works - but takes longer

RE: Buggy on a new speedy system by goodonline in Version 8.5

I spoke with Support at SongShow Plus. The issues I am having are known issues and they are working on them.
It sounds like they are putting more effort into getting version 9 out than fixing the issues with v 8.5 and windows 10. The support tech said that all of these issues have been fixed in v9

I have a new system coming in this next week with Windows 10 that will be the main media system for the church.
Any suggestions on how to work this out? For the near term I am thinking of loading windows 7 so SSP 8.5 will function properly. I drag my feet in doing this because of one software program that is not being actively updated.
I may need to look into other software.....
Any advice out there?
