I need to know what, if any, foreing languages are supported by
SongShow Plus; ie can I creat a song in the "songs" database that
is in french, spanish, or russian?

I have a multi-lingual congreation (english and russian) and it would
nice to be able to put up songs in russian occassionally.

Thanks much for any input on this

There are churches out there that use Russian songs in their databases.

Because of the way the cyrilic alphabet works however this can cause a few problems.  Mostly you need to keep your databases fairly small.  If you have a lot of songs it'd be best to break them up into mutliple databases using the "User Database" feature in SSP.

One thing that we have done is that the Russian members within the congregation
that are bilingual have created Russian language songs using PowerPoint.  I am
of the mind at this point that the songs are best left in the PowerPoint format and
just import them into an SSP program file as they are in PP format.

Thanks much.

How were you able to display songs in Russian using SSP7? Can you please explain? Currently we use PP to display anything in Russian. Thanks.

We are able to display russian songs by creating multiple SSP song databses. (Placing all songs in one databse crushs the SSP because of index limitation).  If you need more info , i can explain how to do it.

Yes, please explain.   Currently we have V5.5 and on this new version7, the songs display as ????? ?????? ?????.  They already are in different databases.  I.E.   russian.songname.sspsong (or whatever the extension is, can't remember it now) and ukrainian songs have ukrainian.xxx  and english.xxxx  so there are 3 databases..  still, the songs do not display, and when adding a new song, you rebuild the index, and ERRORS pop up.. whats the work around ?  Support team said install the June 2007 version, haven't tried that yet, will advise..

I am posting updates in the V7 section, since it really belongs there...

First of all please let me state that I do not own or use V5.5 so I'm not sure how different it is to V7.
Second - Everything I say below you do at your own risk - back up first.

I have cracked how to have/add multiple databases in V7  (I can see this coming in useful for me) - I have not tested everything and will leave that down to you to do - If you do find problems then come please back and say and we may be able to cure them.

1.) Close SSP.
2.) Goto "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\R-Technics\SongShow Plus\" (or wherever else your database is hidden).
3.) "Select" not open the folder called "Songs" and copy.
4.) Now go into "\ModuleData\Additional Databases"
5.) Paste
6.) Rename the folder to whatever you want to call that database - make a note of the name you will need it later.
7.) Go into the folder that you have just pasted and delete all the songs but not the 2 folders.
8.) Goto "Start" and then "Run"
9.) Type "regedit" and press "Enter"
10.) Make a Backup by going to "File" then "Export" and saving it somewhere (Select the option "All")
11.) Goto "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\RTechnics\SongShow Plus\Databases"
12.) Right click in a bit of blank space and goto "New\String Value"
13.) Put the folder name from earlier in as its name.
14.) Double Click on the "SongShow Plus" key to open it.
15.) Copy its value and then close it.
16.) Double click on the new key that you have just created.
17.) Paste the value that you copied from the "SongShow Plus" key into this one and press "OK"
18.) Restart SSP and it should find the new database.

Remember that you try this at your own risk so back everything up first - I have not tested all the song features out but it will certainly display the songs from the new database happily on my machine.

Let us know how you get on and I hope it helps.

Sorry. No way to do that with SSP. Might make a good wish for the wishlist.

Adding sounds to transitions by clee in User Support - V7

As a former PowerPoint user, I would often find the need to add sounds to my transitions, such as a bang, roar, etc.  any kind of a wav file.  Is there a way to do so in SSP?  For instance, in the middle of a bible verse, I want to add a sound effect.  The old way that I would do so in PowerPoint would be to duplicate a slide, and have no movement transition but sound only on the second slide.  I would advance the slide when the sound was needed.  I would really appreciate any advice on this!  Thx!

Here's the XML format that SSP uses.

Hopefully that will help. I've not tried it before.

Background improv issue by iamgap in User Support - V7

If Background Improv is set as your default motion background, you cannot use an image background. Even if you have Transparent as the Default Background. I have also tried No Change, and the Background Image will not show. I have to set Background Improv to None. IMO this negates the advantage of Background Improv.

This started as soon as I installed the 6/30/2009 update.

EDIT:
I just found that if I manually click the transparent button on the Plug-in Panel, the background image becomes available. It is as if the Display Properties is not triggering the Transparent option as it should.

RE: Import lots of XML Songs by iamgap in User Support - V7

I haven't used it, but there is an import from XML feature. It is not a default Plug-in, so you have to select it during the install. You can add it by running the SSP installer again. The installer will only install items you check. Also note that it is a Professional plug-in, so you cannot install it if you have a basic license.

You can also install the Plug-in using the SSP Updater. Start Menu\Programs\SongShow Plus\SongShow Plus Update. Select All available components and Click here to check for updates. XML Importer will be an option under the Proffessional Level Plug-ins.

RE: May 2009 Edition Released by osborn4 in Latest News

If your projector has a freeze function and the content of the main screen isn't going to change, then you could freeze the main projector and show whatever you want on the secondary display.

But you'd have to remember to change what you are displaying back before you unfroze the main projector.

RE: May 2009 Edition Released by bhackle2 in Latest News

If they make the second screen editable that would be hugh!

I was looking at Media Shout for that reason. Every support person I talked to said the same thing "the second display shows the same as the first except no background", but on the forums I found a person that found a way to edit the second display. I would rather use Song Show. Our media team really likes its ease of use.

As I understand it, the feature will only show the same words on both monitors, just different formatting.

RE: May 2009 Edition Released by bhackle2 in Latest News

I'm excited about the secondary display output. Has anyone figured out how to edited the secondary display? We currently use two computers. One computer displaying lyrics only for the congregation, and the other computer displaying lyrics and notes to the praise team. If Song Show will allow editing of the secondary display, we can get by with one less computer and operator.

RE: Change DataPath to use external drive? by osborn4 in User Support - V7

Yes. In SSP, go to Tools -> Utilities and select Data Files Setup From there, follow the bouncing ball.

You will need to be sure and have that drive attached whenever you fire up SSP. But I don't know why it wouldn't work.

I saw it. But I had to click in and enter my church's software ID to get in to the plug ins page.

Change DataPath to use external drive? by jmsuttle in User Support - V7

I just added an external drive to our media computer, and would like to change the data/file path for our SSP items to this external drive.  Is it possible to change the default file location?  If so, please direct me to the function in SSP.  The current location default is as follows:

DataPath: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\R-Technics\SongShow Plus

Thank you in advance,
Jessica

I plan to purchase the H.264 plug-in.

Do I need one for each system, or is it a stie license for the projection and and workstation systems?

Thanks, Mark

Am I correct in my thinking that the New Public Bibles are already included in the install; and the $25 fee is per machine/per translation only for the bibles listed above?
Yes, you are correct. At least the public domain versions got loaded with the preview version. So I would assume they are still there.

RE: Title Slides for Songs by osborn4 in Feature Reviews

Yes. I do basically the same thing (only I call the song part Opening) and it works fine.

But it will be nice to not have to do this anymore.
