The following information describes what versions of SSP have been tested and supported for compatbility with various Windows Versions.

Windows Vista Ultimate

Compatibility testing is presently underway for SSP version 7. It is not yet determined whether the October Edition of SSP is compatible with Vista or if a later edition of SSP will be required. If the October Edition is found to have compability problems, the goal will be to have a compatible edition released no later than February -- with the caveat that unknown problems can create unknown delays.

It's not yet decided whether other configurations of Vista (Business, Home, etc.) will be tested and supported.

Windows XP Professional

SSP Version 7 is tested for compatibility with Windows XP Professional. Future editions of SSP will also be tested for compatibility with Windows XP Professional for the foreseeable future. At some point in time, continuing support for Windows XP Professional will be dropped, but is not anticipated that this will happen for a least a year or more after Windows Vista is released.

SSP 5.5 was tested and supported with Windows XP Professional. There were some issues associated with SP 2 of Windows XP that were related to ATI drivers, but these issues seemed to be resolved with later versions of the ATI drivers.

Earlier versions of SSP were not tested nor supported on Windows XP Professional.

Windows 2000

SSP was never tested nor supported on Windows 2000.

Windows NT

SSP was never tested nor supported on Windows NT.

Windows ME

SSP versions 5.1 - 5.3 were technically supported on this version of Windows, but not much testing was performed with it.

Windows 98 SE

SSP versions 3.0 - 5.3 were tested and supported on Windows 98 SE.

Windows 98

SSP versions 2.0 - 5.3 were tested and supported on Windows 98

Windows 95

SSP versions 1.0 - 4.0 were tested and supported on Windows 95.

Earlier version of Windows

SSP was never available for versions of windows earlier than Windows 95.

UPDATE:

Windows 7 Ultimate (64bit)

Windows 7 Ultimate (64bit) is the Windows 7 platform used for all SSP testing and validation. As before, other version of the operating system such as Windows 7 Home and the 32bit versions may work (as users have reported) but will not be specifically tested during ongoing validation.
