Dual core processors contain two central cores (the brains) sharing resources on one chip.  Dual core processors essentially act like two processors contained in one package.  In the very near future it will become nearly impossible to find a single core processor.

SongShow Plus has been tested with the AMD X2 series of dual core processors.  Version 5.5 (and earlier) are not compatible with dual core processors.  Starting with version 7.0 SongShow plus is compatible with Dual Core processors.
